-To try and minimise the use of water and detergents, we have a policy of only changing and washing bed linen on request or upon check-out, cutting down on pollution of the local waterways.
- Additionally throughout the property we use collected rain water which we purify by filtration with charcoal instead of using harsh chemicals, allowing it to be recycled back into the ecosystem.
- As part of a community initiative, every 2 or 3 years, the owners of Xaymountry Residential Guest House give monetary donations contributing to the community’s schools and local temples. This money is enabling much needed repairs of the local primary schools and restoration of the temples, including the building of a sealed road that leads up to the northern temple. These donations have been acknowledged with plaques in the temple and the naming of the sealed road in honour of our family.
Xaymountry Residential Guesthouse is a family run business situated in a large traditional Lao house, raised on stilts. Located on Don Khone Island in the 4000 islands area, we are set back fro the river front, close to the old railway bridge connecting the island to Don Det. Our vicinity to all the local amenities make this the ideal location for a relaxing and hassle-free stay allowing you to take in the peaceful ambience of Don Khone.
The lovely, large Lao building houses 9 guest rooms with a big communal balcony at the front of the building where guests can relax and socialise under cooling ceiling fans. The accommodation is ideal for the budget traveller, offering basic but clean rooms with a choice of private or shared bathrooms. The large balcony provides a friendly and social setting to meet fellow travellers with staff onhand to provide a selection of drinks, including Beer Lao.
The friendly Xaymountry family will do everything they can to make you feel at home, offering genuine hospitality and an extensive knowledge of the area. The central location is close to restaurants to suit all tastes, tranquil waterfalls and Don Det island and we will do our best to ensure that you make the most of your stay here.
